In short
For the 2026 cycle, Indian-national candidates and OCI/PIO(I) candidates covered by the official eligibility page had to satisfy all five criteria A1 to A5. JEE Main performance is only one criterion, not the whole eligibility test.
The candidate must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates, including all categories, in the B.E./B.Tech paper of JEE Main 2026, subject to the official category-allocation and tie rules.
For the 2026 cycle, candidates must have been born on or after 1 October 2001. The official page provides a five-year relaxation for SC, ST and PwD candidates, making the corresponding date 1 October 1996.
A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
The standard 2026 rule requires first Class XII or equivalent appearance in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The official page also contains a specific exception linked to delayed declaration of certain 2024 board results; read that wording on the official page.
The candidate must satisfy the official prior-IIT-admission condition. This rule contains exceptions and candidate-history detail, so the official page remains the authority and exam-process review is pending.
The five criteria above decide whether a candidate may appear in JEE Advanced. Separate IIT admission board-performance criteria apply at admission, and may include the 75 percent aggregate or category-wise top-20-percentile pathways, subject to official rules. Do not merge the two.
2027 state: Not officially announced.
The official JEE (Advanced) 2026 eligibility page is the authority for every criterion here. Exam-process review remains pending.
