In short

UPSC places Current Events inside GAT Part B. The official scope is important events that have happened in India in recent years, current important world events, and prominent Indian and international personalities including people connected with cultural activities and sports. This page is a preparation method, not a news feed.

Monitored scope

Only the official scope statement is monitored. No news item is auto-published.

What UPSC actually names

The 2026 notification specifies:

  • important events that have happened in India in recent years;
  • current important world events;
  • prominent Indian and international personalities, including people connected with cultural activities and sports.

A manufactured list of “most important current affairs” is not published unless it comes from a defined, reviewed editorial pipeline.

Preparation method

1. Collect from authoritative sources

Use primary sources first:

  • UPSC for examination notices and exam-related changes;
  • Press Information Bureau for Government of India announcements;
  • official ministry and armed-forces sources for defence developments;
  • RBI for major monetary, banking and macroeconomic developments that are genuinely relevant;
  • official international organisations for global events when needed.

2. Apply an NDA relevance test

Retain an item only if at least one of these is true:

  • it is a major Indian public-policy, constitutional, defence, science, environment, economy or national event;
  • it is a major international event with clear significance;
  • it concerns a prominent person whose role or achievement has broad public relevance;
  • it can be understood as a factual GK item without requiring speculative opinion.

Reject:

  • celebrity gossip;
  • viral but low-significance stories;
  • unverified social posts;
  • “expected questions” presented as facts;
  • coaching-only importance labels.

3. Build compact revision notes

For each retained event record:

  • Event
  • Date / period
  • Place / institution
  • People / organisations involved
  • Why it matters
  • One related static-GK connection
  • Primary source URL
  • Last verified date

4. Revise in layers

  • Weekly: revise newly accepted records.
  • Monthly: compress them into one-page category summaries.
  • Before the exam: revise only verified notes and remove superseded claims.

India, World, Defence, Science & Technology, Environment, Economy, Government Programmes, Awards and Appointments, Sports and Culture.

These categories are editorial organisation only. They are not claimed as separate UPSC sections, and no daily entries are fabricated here.

Checked against official NDA & NA GAT sources

Scope authority is the official UPSC NDA notification. Section proportions, where shown, are official approximate syllabus proportions and never predicted weightage.
