NDA Army Wing: what the pathway covers and what is decided later

The current UPSC NDA notification is the authority for Army Wing educational eligibility, age conditions, vacancies and selection rules. Keep exact eligibility on /nda/eligibility; this page should link to it rather than duplicate the full rule set.

NDA provides joint-services training before Army cadets move into the Army's service-specific pre-commission training pathway specified in the current notification.

The page should explain:

• what NDA contributes: joint-service foundation, academics, military training and physical development;
• what happens next: Army-specific pre-commission training;
• why later professional specialisation is not decided solely by a student's early preference.

Avoid language such as:

• "choose Army and pick your regiment";
• "NDA marks guarantee a combat arm";
• "this branch is easy to get."

Use an allocation caveat tied to official rules: eligibility, medical fitness, merit, preference, vacancies and service requirements can all matter.

A candidate can make a better-informed preference by learning about:

• the nature of land-force leadership and field/service environments;
• the commitment to military training and physical readiness;
• the difference between choosing the Army as a service preference and later allocation within the Army;
• education and medical requirements in the current notification.

Do I need PCM for the Army Wing? Route the candidate to the current /nda/eligibility page and current UPSC notification. Do not reuse Navy/Air Force education rules.

Can I choose my regiment at the NDA application stage? Do not imply that. The application/service preference stage is not a guaranteed regiment-selection tool.

Does meeting physical benchmarks guarantee Army medical fitness? No. The official medical board applies the full current standards.
