You do not need to attend a Sainik School to be eligible for NDA. NDA eligibility is set by the current UPSC notification, not by a candidate's school brand.
The Sainik Schools Society is under the Ministry of Defence framework and manages Sainik Schools across India. Its official site states that admissions are offered at Class VI and Class IX through AISSEE.
A Sainik School environment may provide structured schooling, residential routines, sports, discipline and exposure to defence-oriented aspirations. Those can be useful experiences for some students.
They do not create an automatic NDA seat, written-exam exemption, SSB recommendation or medical waiver.
For NDA, follow the UPSC notification for:
A candidate from a regular CBSE, ICSE, state-board or other recognised educational pathway can compete if the official eligibility conditions are met.
That is too narrow a decision. Consider:
